Learning through play

Our children learn through play, following the guidelines of the Pre-Birth to Three frameworks and the Curriculum for Excellence.
These important principles help to ensure that our children get the stimulus and support they need, based around a number of core themes:
  • Health, safety and emotional wellbeing
  • Literacy and Numeracy
  • Communication
  • Learning, creativity and understanding
  • Being self-assured and building confidence
  • Being responsible

Electronic Learning Journals

We update Electronic Learning Journals for every child, with input from parents and the children themselves. Based around daily observations, photographs and artwork, the plan is individually tailored to suit the needs and interests of each child, and provide an ongoing record of learning development.

Our central locations mean that we are in close proximity to the Edinburgh Festival, Winter Wonderland, The Zoo and Botanic Gardens, so children have a regular programme of trips and outings to enjoy. We also host Family Fun Days organised by the staff at the nursery – a great opportunity to bring together parents, children and nursery staff.
