About our Nurseries

We are one of the longest established nurseries in Edinburgh. Our buildings were chosen to provide a home from home environment in which children and parents can find a safe and secure place and where children can feel confident in their surroundings.

Our Nursery in Dean Terrace recently celebrated its 25th Anniversary. It has a safe and secure adventure playground with sandpits and a planting area. The Nursery holds keys for Dean Gardens which opens up a wide playground for exploring, studying nature and wider physical development. The Nursery is also ideally situated for some lovely local walks to The Botanic Gardens, Inverleith Park, The Water of Leith, The Library and many other local attractions.

Our nursery in Forres Street is entering its 15th anniversary year.  It has a very safe outdoor play area with its own cottage, planting area and sandboat.  The nursery holds keys for Moray Place Gardens which is visited at least once a day by all ages of children.  The nursery is also very central for beautiful walks around the Edinburgh New Town and local amenities including the library.

Our nurseries take part in Forest Schools and offer yoga and football skills sessions. We also celebrate many different cultures and festivals giving the children a wide knowledge and understanding of all citizens in our community. There are regular outings for the children to Imaginate Festival, Book Festival, The Fringe, East Links Farm, The Playhouse and Edinburgh Castle.  Every summer all the children from both nurseries and their families along with staff join together for the Nursery Fun Day.  This is a great occasion where everyone gets the chance to get together and enjoy a day of face painting, bouncy castles, races, animal handling, picnics and Pimms.

Additional Support Needs:

An additional support need comes from anything that is a barrier to learning.  The education authority has many legal duties to children with additional support needs.  Information about this is contained in a booklet called In On The Act: Information For The general Public which is published on the education authority website at www.edinburgh.gov.uk/inontheact – or contact the additional support for learning team on telephone number 0131 469 3444.
